About illuminati

illuminati is the book production partnership of Lucy Morton and Robin Gable. Based in Grosmont on the Welsh borders, we provide a coordinated package of design, editorial and production expertise, from manuscript to printer. We pride ourselves on integrating original design with thoughtful editing to produce beautiful books.
We have many years’ publishing experience, and cover disciplines from archaeology to development studies; poetry to politics; philosophy to art. We specialize in elegant illustrated books. Recent work includes catalogues for the Eric Ravilious exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery, The Crime Museum Uncovered and The Cheapside Hoard at the Museum of London, Magical Books at the Bodleian Library in Oxford, Sanctity Pictured at the Frist Center in Nashville, Bruegel at the Holburne Museum in Bath, Gilded Interiors at the Wallace Collection and the forthcoming Edward Bawden exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery.
We love complex books and over the years have had the pleasure of working with eminent authors P.D. James, Rowan Williams, Noam Chomsky, Edward Said, Terry Eagleton, Roy Strong, Raymond Williams and Nawal El Saadawi, among others.
We also have a fresh approach to design identity, from libraries to journals, including printed materials, reports, website design, logos and branding.
Our clients have included the Bodleian Library, University of Oxford, Philip Wilson Press, Radical Philosophy, Eifl, Journal of Jewish Studies, Kingston University, IFLA, Liber, the European Library and the British Library.
We typeset from authors’ files on the Apple platform using Adobe Creative Suite with Monotype fonts. We can handle all the stages of book production, including research, writing, copyediting & proofreading, text design, typesetting, cover design, indexes and liaison with authors. We occasionally publish our own books too…
