illuminati was founded by Lucy Morton and Robin Gable in 1993 to provide a coordinated package of design, editorial and production expertise to publishers, from manuscript to printer. We are dedicated to integrating original design with thoughtful editing to produce beautiful books.

We have many years’ in-house and freelance publishing experience, and cover disciplines from history to development studies; philosophy to art. We specialize in books and exhibition catalogues with a strong design element and integrated illustrations.

We love complex books and high-powered authors, and over the years have had the pleasure of working with P.D. James, Rowan Williams, Noam Chomsky, Edward Said, Terry Eagleton, Raymond Williams and Nawal el Saadawi, among others.

We also have a fresh approach to corporate design, including annual reports, advertising and promotional materials, logo design and branding.

Our clients include the Bodleian Library, Zed Books, Radical Philosophy magazine, the Journal of Jewish Studies, Credo Reference, Eifl, Kingston University and the British Library.

We typeset from authors’ files on Macs, using Adobe Creative Suite with Monotype fonts. We handle all text production work, including copy-writing, copyediting, text design, typesetting, cover design, proof-reading, commissioning indexes and liaison with authors.
